Nannochloropsis - Live Phytoplankton
Live Phytoplankton has great benefits for your reef tank, adding biodiversity, feeding your corals and copepods, and supplementing your cleanup crew.
It is known to reduce nitrates and phosphates in your reef aquarium, adding stability to your tank.
NOTE: We use Secchi discs to determine our Phytoplankton density as well as examine our cultures under microscope weekly to ensure the Healthiest and densest cultures on the market. Our bottles will always be between 12-18 density, which shows by a dark green color. Lighter the color green the less dense so less phytoplankton cells within.
Secchi disk definition/purpose: The Secchi disk (or Secchi disc) measures water transparency or turbidity in bodies of water. The disc is mounted on a pole or line and lowered slowly down in the water. The depth at which the disk is no longer visible is taken as a measure of the transparency of the water. This measure is known as the Secchi depth and is related to water turbidity
Note: Phytoplankton should be refrigerated and lightly shaken daily to keep cells suspended. It can last a couple weeks refrigerated and still be live but it will start to die if not cultured again. We recommend using it within 2 weeks of delivery and keeping it refrigerated. It can still be used to feed zooplankton (copepods/rotifers) after the 2 week window as they eat both live an dead phytoplankton.
Also note, phytoplankton is green in nature (all spectrum's of green from light to dark) but if you receive any that is very light green or yellow in color then report it right away as could be DOA issue from shipping. Bad Phyto will look funny, clumpy and smell foul, so if its green and has not obvious foul smell your good to go!

We ship in insulated bag with cold/heat packs to ensure live arrival.
We ship Monday - Wednesday ONLY - For any orders placed after Wednesday, you may receive notification of shipment, but that is just the generation of the shipping label. Shipping will proceed on that following Monday unless it's a holiday ***
If weather is a factor in shipping, cold/heat/hurricane, we will ship on next available Monday - Wednesday window to ensure live arrival.

This phytoplankton is the thickest richest phyto i have seen in the market place. Florida Reef Labs is the only place I purchase at this point.
Absolutely amazing phytoplankton. I have bought from plenty of vendors over the years and it’s always light green or yellowish green, but the batch I got from florida reef labs is almost blackish green!!! I cut a 16 oz bottle 3 times and created new cultures that took off, never been this easy….
